Case Study: Agata Olek's Charging Bull
Renegade knitter Agata Olek presented the city of New York with a whimsical Christmas gift this year, decorating Modica's Charging Bull sculpture with a custom knit job. The iconic Charging Bull sculpture was itself an illegal installation when Arturo Di Modica initially installed it in front of Wall Street in 1989 following the crash of '87. Following a public outcry over the impounding of the statue, authorities in New York reinstalled the work at Bowling Green, however, Olek wasn't as lucky as her knitting has since been removed by the authorities.
