NGV Studio is an exciting new space at the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne, Australia. NGV Studio will present a changing program of exhibitions, installations and events that actively involve Melbourne's youth.
With a goal of encouraging innovation and experimentation, curator David Hurlston explains that "the rules are that there are no rules. We're deliberately trying to keep it as open as possible so that we can engage with artists in new ways."
Over the next few months, four Melbourne street crews will take up residence at NGV Studio and transform the space with their dynamic art. The crew whose work receive the most comments via Twitter and Facebook will be selected to show their work at the NGV Studio when it officially opens. Everfresh is the second group to take over at NGV Studio (their work will be on show until 21 February) and this video presents the installation of their piece.
The museum is considering pursuing a larger urban art program, so if you live in Australia, or just want to see street art in more major institutions, you can hit up their Facebook or Twitter and let them know.
